1978??
It's funny you mention that because I originally thought it was a 1978 as well because I think the 1st two letters of the SN are "FP". My wife said there's no way her grandfather would have bought a bike in 1978 or after so she theorizes it's "FD" for 1968.
To add to the enigma, the Sturmey-Archer hub is almost certainly not stock - I think this bike came with a 5 speed freewheel and a rear derailleur.
At any rate, it's still way cool. I LOVE the lines on this bike, from the "camelback" top bar to the super cool, solid steel fork and the welds at the front are beautiful, looks almost like a carbon fiber bike. I am sure they used bondo or some other filler to get them that smooth. I think it looks even cooler with the tin removed; however, I kept everything I removed including the crankset.
