As my commute home is west, I'm often going into a head wind in the evening. Drop bars are nice for that - as is the ability to pedal to work over 20mph. Kinda nice having a broad choice of hand positions too.

Shorter rides with less than 15mph apparent wind - flat bar should work fine.
