Like most magazines, their mission is to make you feel like you need to spend money...hopefully on products advertised in their magazine. They do this by telling you how great those products are.
For me, $250.00 for bibs is way out of my price range but if I was making $300k/year I might feel differently.
There are all kinds of cyclists with wide ranging incomes and fortunately there is a wide range of products from low budget to ultra high end. Buy what you value and can afford and don't worry about what other people choose.
