Oh yeah, that sounds like a TERRIFIC idea. Then, instead of being out a few bucks for CO2s, I'd have a sore arm for a week from putting in like 500 strokes to fill up 4 tires. Maybe I should just carry a backpack with an HPA tank in it, or lash a floor pump to the frame with some hearty ropes. A mini/micro/frame pump is perfectly fine for a single flat. Try doing it two or three times. CO2 rapidly becomes a solid alternative. Also, who carries that many tubes? We ran out of both. A pump would have just been extra weight at that point.
Discaimer: on my steel bike, I carry 2 CO2s and a micro pump. But today I rode one of those lightweight things I've heard about on the internet, and had only what I needed for myself. I don't think anyone can anticipate someone else getting 3 flats in the span of 90 minutes.
