Might just be me but training your body to starve all day and binge at night seems like a pretty simple equation to work with.
I've done a lot of free climbing in remote areas where hauling water instead of food was the only choice. Numerous gf's and others tried claiming I had exercise anorexia. Funny thing is I was a lot more stable in my eating habits and weight seasonally or year round than any of them. Not to mention hiking 20 miles round trip to do the climb and then riding 50 miles at night to relax while they were out drinking or whatever.
I'm firmly in what most of you gymrats would call the ectomorph category. Beyond that I learned very early on how to get strong without mass. Not everyone is prone to that with any success. Focus on balance then taper it to where you think it can realistically take you. What starts small gains momentum just like your first salary up to what you retire earning. REST IS WHAT MAKES YOU STRONGER, leaner, and capable of moving forward. As humans we are very well designed to deal with what feels like starving ourselves of rest and excess food intake for set periods of time. We are not made to prop ourselves up with drugs and always end up facing the consequences of the decision to do so.
