I am in the US now (Bay Area). Weight is my concern as well, that's why I thought about buying a used bike. However, while I was living in Japan about a couple years ago, I bought used Giant Escape for less than 250$ and it weights 10-11 kg. The only issue with it is that it is too small for me. So basically I am looking for something similar to it, just a larger size.
