She also has bits of meat in Saran Wrap in the freezer and you can identify it by color and by which Sharpie-labeled plastic bin it's in. Unless it somehow ends up outside its proper bin then it's just by color. It's very interesting. It's like a curated mystery meat museum.
You either like Big Bang Theory, or you don't. I do. But there is a fair degree of science promoted in the show, and in one of the episodes, Sheldon gives a clue as to why putting bread in the fridge isn't a good thing. Apparently, it changes the starch or something in the bread, making the texture bad. Freezing actually is a good thing by comparison. We buy two loaves a week, and put one in the freezer, pull it out when needed, let it thaw, and it's just like... fresh bread.

One of the best investments I've ever made is a small chest freezer. We buy frozen vegetables at the supermarket, and our waste has gone to almost zero. Buy meat, freeze it. I've even put grated cheese in the freezer to stop it going mouldy; the texture isn't exactly brilliant on using it, but it just needs a bit of melting.
