We buy two loaves a week, and put one in the freezer, pull it out when needed, let it thaw, and it's just like... fresh bread.

One of the best investments I've ever made is a small chest freezer. We buy frozen vegetables at the supermarket, and our waste has gone to almost zero. Buy meat, freeze it. I've even put grated cheese in the freezer to stop it going mouldy; the texture isn't exactly brilliant on using it, but it just needs a bit of melting.
Yes, the fridge makes the bread texture terribad. Freezer as well, IMO. Go get fresh bread and eat it within a day, and all is well.

Or you can get some of that squishy bad bread that lasts a couple of weeks on the counter. It's not all that great on day one, but it's almost the same on day 10.

Frozen peas are way better than canned, though, that's for sure!
