I do not own a hybrid but I would think any of them would benefit (as far as speed is concerned) with quality 700/23-25 tires but you will lose the comfort so it is a fine line between speed and comfort.
It seems that a lot more people are now thinking that a 28mm tyre will be faster than a 23-25mm of the same compound, not sure where the limit is, with the "wider is better" thinking, as tyre weight and aerodynamics clearly has to be taken into account too.
