I'm looking at the FX series and I'm trying to figure out whether I should be adamant about getting the new 2018 model of an FX bike, or if I should go ahead and pick up one of the old model 2017's from the local Trek dealer.

From what I understand the 2018 models use a new alloy/design for the frame (according to Trek) and they no longer have internal cables.

So, does anyone have any thoughts or information on the 2017 vs 2018 decision? And more, do ya'll think that the FX 3 would be worth the $160 jump in price from the FX 2 (I'm currently saying definitely yes.)

Thank you in advance for your input.
If you want disc brakes then get the 2018 model FX 3, but if you wanted rim brakes, then I think the 2017 model is a better buy. I think the 2016 7.4FX which got replaced by the 2017 FX 3, is a better buy in a rim brake model.
