Trek FX can do bike paths and rail trails no problem. Probably not technical MTB trails, but none of the listed alternatives can either. The other bikes you mentioned (Verve/Neko/Cannondale Adventure) are more upright/comfort hybrids. You can put wider/knobbier tires on the FX if you need.
