The FX is a cross between a cruiser, with wide, plush tires, and a road bike with hard, narrow tires. You could mount a slightly plusher tire, maybe 35 mm or even 37 mm on the FX and that might soak up bumps better than the stock tires. If you go all the way up to 45 mm tires, that is a lot of rolling weight which, especially if you are a smaller or lighter person, will feel sluggish.
