If you are curious do a Google search for Pendleton Rescue February 1952. Then see the movie The Finest Hours. It's a Disney flick so it has a bit of fluff and a few tweaks of the details for movie purposes. But once it gets into the main event the details are almost verbatim from the Boston Globe articles Feb 1952. Check out the Orleans Historical Society's web pages. Unbelievably heroic stuff.
