Bikes: 1962 Rudge Sports, 1971 Raleigh Super Course, 1971 Raleigh Pro Track, 1974 Raleigh International, 1975 Viscount Fixie, 1982 McLean, 1996 Lemond (Ti), 2002 Burley Zydeco tandem

I use my iphone 6S and the ridewithgps app. I usually attach the phone with a QuadLock mount, and sometimes I keep it in my pocket. If I'm out for more than an hour, I connect the phone to an external battery, and that lets it last several hours, even with the screen on.

It's not perfect, but nothing is. One of the biggest problems is that because of the motion of the bike, touching the screen is quite inaccurate, and I have to try several times. Then again, I shouldn't be touching and looking at the screen much.

The biggest advantage for me is cost. I already have the phone and don't want to spend $200 or more on another gadget.
