There are plenty of websites that document a good inspection process, just google it. They're not like cars, there's nothing that can be hidden in an engine and the like. If you research the topic and look at several before you buy you should do fine. The only exception to this would be a bike made of carbon, I wouldn't touch a second hand one of those with a barge pole myself.
