My local bar has an old photo taken outside from way back in the day. Not sure what decade. Possibly as early as the 30s or 40s. The family that owned the building is standing next to a sign advertising meals. For $0.50 you got to choose one of several meats, vegetable, potatoes, coffee, tea or milk and dessert. You could also buy a book of meal tickets that brought down the per meal price.
