Edit: Don't laugh but I previously used Firm Grip gloves that my wife bought for me from the hardware store for yardwork. Tough to beat at $10 a pair at the hardware store!

Btw, what material is your base layer? Today I wore a full sleeve compression top under my jersey and that did nothing.
