bikes after... say 84 can seamlessly go with classic looking "modern" parts. IMO, Dura Ace 7800 and Ultegra 6600 have a very classic look to them.

Brifters.

late 70's to mid 80's frames from many manufacturers can blend classic components as well. ( in my opinion ).
campy AND dura ace can compliment each other on the same bike.

and " brifters " make me wanna puke ...
