And, depending on the material used for the frame (steel/aluminum/Carbon fiber/etc.) you should probably have your torque wrench handy and refer to torque specs:

Thanks Dan, all good stuff! I've built BMX bikes, electric scooters, mountain bikes, cars, even houses so I'm not too worried about messing any of that up. Mostly I just want to chat with somebody for a few and see which components to use since it's going to be a mix of stuff. I have the frame already but a fair number of parts to select from thus my questions. I can look up torque specs and all that as I go if I run into any issues. Only thing I need to actually buy are some bar end shifters.
