My first bike was a 24" fat tire girls bike. by dad had pulled it from the irrigation drainage ditch (the slough) from behind our house and completely overhauled it and painted it a nice red/white.
I loved having it, but was anxious to get e new bike becauase: 24 in wheel were for little kids, Fat tires were not cool then, and lastly because it was a girls bike.
I saved money and a year later with the bump of first communion money bought a 26" candy apple red, middle weight (schwinn clone only rich kids had schiwnns, which was pretty much no one) from coast to coast.
the little red bike went on to be the first bike/trainer for my 3 younger siblings
