I live in central Illinois now, but I grew up in western Washington State. I went along as a kid and later as a young adult and hunted a lot of deer/elk/bear. I was confident in my hiking/hunting abilities in the forest areas of Washington and Idaho. I recall one trip relatively close to the Mt St Helens area (before she blew herself up) where I had approached an area (on foot) that made the hairs on the back on my neck stand straight out! It was a very dark portion of the forest; I was carrying a 30.06 rifle at the time. I distinctly remember that there was no way I was going to enter the bit of forest. It was eerie as all get out in there. I felt I was being watched, and I had an overwhelming sense of foreboding about the spot.

So, in a weird sort of way I believe there just might be something to Bigfoot; a visceral or "gut" feeling from a deep down primitive instinctual awareness. . But then again, maybe it was my imagination or I was just sensing a mighty big bear. I doubt that though.
