Venice, FL 2012 REV3 70.3 triathlon I was 15 miles into the 56 mile ride. Went into the roundabout at Englewood Beach at 25.2mph (Garmin) and lost rear. Down on left side, wedding ring pushed into finger to bone, hole in arm below left elbow that a pencil could be shoved into, massive road rash. Got up and rode 5 miles to medical for quick bandaging at which time blood was coming off bars and frame in dried sheets. Finished the ride and began the 13.1 mile half marathon. Friends at transition said I was pale looking. After finishing the half marathon 2 medical volunteers walked me to med tent and DOWN ON STRETCHER I went to be worked on. Was still getting blood off of bike, spokes, crank, brakes weeks later. Have not worn wedding band since due to scaring and weird sensation and not an issue with wife of 44 years.
