Cops were unable to take a blood sample from Peterson because too much time had elapsed between the accident and him being taken into custody, Fox 6 reports.
As a result he will not face DUI charges, and is instead charged with hit-and-run resulting in death and homicide by negligent operation of a vehicle.

If he had stopped, he would have been charged with all of that plus DUI and other charges.

The DUI would be the least of his worries. Leaving the scene of a fatal accident is a very serious offense.

What a sad day, for all concerned.
