Under this new law, a bicyclist riding within the District must be capable of making a warning noise, “either with a bell or mechanical device, or with his or her voice, audible for a distance of at least one hundred feet (100 ft.).”
What the what now?

A bell that can be heard from 100 ft? In DC traffic?

How exactly does one attach the Liberty Bell to a bicycle? Do they realize how big and loud a bell has to be to be heard over traffic for 100ft?

I guarantee I can yell louder than the loudest bike bell currently available. I can attract a lot more attention too.

This law is stupid.
