I average once per ride . I usually wave as if they were saying hello . I have heard there were two other road cyclists in the county I live in but I have never seen them .There are plenty of drivers that can't imagine anyone riding a bicycle with traffic though . I'm in the same boat as you here in rural AR. I literally am honked at every single time I ride, without fail. I live near a long bridge, and I have to take lane to go over it because there is no shoulder and I have made some log truck drivers insanely mad. I don't see any other cyclers in my community unless you count the guys on mountain bikes cycling in the wrong direction with no shirt on smoking a cigarette.
I see the same people that honk at me at the gas stations and grocery store all the time. I think really it's only 1/100 but they sure do stick out. I thought everyone got honked at constantly!
