I think you made a great choice as well! Especially as a new-to-me as-of-today 1984 610, in far less pretty shape. But hey, for less than $30, I'm ok with that. It'll be in a build thread, and a lot of paint beautification will have to happen, but what it offers is what I'm going for. That and I'm fully modernizing it.
I was looking at some steel disc brake touring bikes (or just framesets), and the Disc Trucker and Soma (??? model) were browsed. I can't stand Surly's geometry, nor do I care for the mega stem spacers look, to say nothing of a finished LHT/Disc Trucker's overall proportion. Ugly and gawky. Touring bikes of this era are simply elegant, and their geometry works well.
