I totally screwed myself up doing my own type of training. Like needing 10+hrs of sleep a night, borderline anemic kind of screwed up. So, my coach put me back on structure, and after resting up I had the best workout of my life this past week, and everything just kind of feels easy and no chain. He's got me doing FTP building before base starts, and Imma throw in the occasional unplanned gonzo ride just so he remembers that I am not a number, I am a free man.
