When really cold I do use snow goggles as your eye lids can freeze shut when you blink and that sucks at 20 mph. There is a winter forum here where you can find a ton of helpful info.

This is my normal winter setup. The cloth covering my chin is a light face mask that can be pulled over your mouth and nose. It just tends to leak up, especially each time you look downwards at the road.

This photo is iconic. Is it what Natalie Cole was singing about when she sang "Unforgettable"?

I should think that any ski mask would warm the breath. Why should it not?
I use the poly Wigwam mask (least-expensive one they sell), and it works, while allowing comfortable breathing while cycling (not while running), but it'll fog up your glasses unless you drop the specs away from your face on your Croakies. That, of course, means you get the light-filtering aspect of your sunglasses, but debris could (theoretically) fly up from underneath. They'll still fog up a bit, but you may get a patch of dry plastic to see out of.
