Thanks very much. I think a replacement derailleur is on the cards. I’ve had a look and they’re surprisingly inexpensive. I’ll replace the chain as well.
If you put a new derailleur onto a bent hanger you are still going to have problems. Make certain that the hanger is straight before going further.
