I bought a bike with what I thought was a Phil bottom bracket... No, Phil rings and a Sealed bearing Stronglight spindle and bearings, same as they made in the later 70's, cups right against the bearings, did not keep it that way as the bearings would be susceptible to side load upon installation.

Sent another Phil first generation cartridge to Phil for new bearings and it is now destined for a Bertin.
