Are there local shops around? Test rides can be helpful.

Interesting! Why is that? Is it very hilly where you ride? I have one pretty long hill (~ 1/2 mile), which is pushing me toward the 6. I'm tempted by the 2 only for simplicy and cost, but I feel like I'd regret not having more intervals in my gearing.
I'm on Brompton number 3. Two were S bars, non superlight/titanium, 6 speed. One is a 3 speed M bars, has/d a rack & dyno front light. If I ever get a 4th Brompton; titanium/superlight option, 6 speed, L(fenders) or E(no fenders) type, not sure if I'll go straight(S) or higher M bars, front luggage block are some of the specs I'll go with.
