I rode my bike in the sf bay area as well while I lived there, and I'm familiar with the mountains up in the north. Never ridden in SoCal tho. Been to some sierra passes such as Sonora Pass, Ebetts Pass, and rode in Inyo County too. Im missing the SoCal. Im sure it's great there too, probably acompannied by sunny weather.
