Brompton has a plastic shim seat post liner, those are glued in .. when I did a replacement , I used hot melt glue.

then replaced the seat post in from the bottom , and it did not quite fit, so I got out the heat gun , 'played' it over that area,

and the steel heated the glue, then while hot it spread out enough to get the seat post in..
