Water bottles aren't just uncool, they are un-aero. and the weight of bottles and cages? Outrageous. Trust me, before long all the cool kids will be riding bikes equipped with Tube-Sux® hydration systems. Options include the Little-Sucker® gel pump, and CO2 powered models ... because only a complete Dumbrowski would carry an uncool, an-aero, overweight hand pump.
If you can't fit it in your jersey pocket---stick it up your tube! Tube-Sux®, the original frame-contained hydration provider.
LOL
As if we were all competing in the TdF.

I do what feels best for me, and I'd encourage everyone to do the same.
The other day I saw some bikepackers struggling up a mountain with more crap strapped to their bikes that definitely outweighed the bike by a factor of 2 or 3. Hey, whatever gets you up the hill, seemed to be working pretty darn well for them. They were enjoying themselves (I hope!), so that's really all that matters.
