Seems like the 8, 9, 10, and 11 speed models get progressively slimmer (and more expensive).
Determine "Bulky" . I have bought Claris 8 Speed and Microshift 7 speed. Measurment wise, the Claris are 1-2 mm. wider, at the widest points. Yes the Microshift has an extra paddle (down shift) that the Claris doesn't have, but that's just adapting between the different shifters. KB
