Just swapped in a new cockpit: Technomic stem (all the way down, it's hit bottom!) Winpista bars, RSX 3x7 brifters. Old, used white vinyl bar tape, probably older than the bike. That stuff recycles nicely. Also a late 80's Vetta saddle; definitely older than the bike. Obviously, I had to stretch the bike out a bit to fit me and honestly, I could use another inch of setback on the post if I want to get my customary Brooks Pro to sit in the correct position. 27.2 post - anyone have a recommendation for what I should look for to get back a bit further?





Haha, whoops! I screwed up and put 27" rims on it! Don't worry; they won't be there for long.

This frame is from an era of C-dale that switches between 700c and 27" with just a slight realignment of the brake pads. Sweet! The sharp-eyed among you will have noticed these rims are from a late 1980s Schwinn, with the front wheel having Lawyer Levers flapping in the breeze with nothing to lock onto. I just wanted to try these rims and tires on it to see if it would give it a more standard road-bike feel. It did. Swinging the tire pendulum the other way, it looks like it'll handle at least 700x 48mm tires, putting me into monstercross territory. That's where this one will eventually end up. I took the tires off the original rims and weighed them at 710g each, ugh! Surely we can find a suitable 700c tire around 40mm a bit lighter than that?

I'm going to have fun tinkering around on this one.
