They can go thinner. But then your frame is very susceptible to dents and dings. IMHO, 0.7 or even 0.8 is the best compromise for weight and durability. Just ask anyone that has Columbus EL-OS which is 0.4. Beautiful riding stuff, but if you look at it the wrong way, it may get dented.
This Ironman is a beauty and the price is great. Too small for me.
