What about symmetric chains? They might face outward or inward, with the logo up or down. I've never really paid attention to the orientation but am now wondering if systematic rotation (whenever the chain is taken off for cleaning/lubrication) might impact the plates longevity.

Anyone has looked into this?
I like this question.

One of the reasons why I come to this forum is to read up on people's findings who have been exploring ways to increase "efficiency" in various ways.

But isn't that chain directional?

The OP was specifically asking about non-directional chains.
