Unless you ride in areas where bike theft is rampant, this lightweight cable lock suffices for 15 minute stops at the local USPS office, Trader Joe's, CVS, etc. I would assume it would also work for when nature calls. It deters the opioid addict from an impulsive fly and ride. It's nice because it will straighten out and I often just wear it as if were a sling.

There are several 12-15mm versions at REI if you want a thicker cable and more suitable for an urban environment, like Detroit.
