Why not?

I don't see any reason that real or perceived slowness with a style of bicycle or style of cycling should mean that you shouldn't care about performance within that style. Like, I don't tend to ride my mountain bike as fast as I ride my road bikes, but that doesn't mean I don't care how it performs as a mountain bike.
