DaveQ24, what is your tubing size. Round? Some of the vintage straps may not work with oversized tubing, or non-round tubing. Well, the straps would bend if non-round, but sizing may be off.

What is inside the tubes? Hollow? Something else?

You might either install, or get some rivnuts installed. Maybe a little more work, but it would be a good permanent solution.
