Hello,

I recently bought a used Mercian touring bike, and found a noticeable metallic click in the drivetrain as it comes under load, which seemed to be located in the hub somewhere, as there is play between the cassette and hub. I just removed the cassette and found the wobble is in the splined freehub, but I am not sure where to go from here. Is it possible to remove the freehub from the wheel, or service bearings? The friendly mechanic at a local shop said one of these approaches should work.
I have a chain whip and lockring remover, but not sure about tools to deal with this.
Could anyone experienced offer advice? The bike is ridable, but I would like to fix this problem, which seems to be happening more often.
