FWIW it seems the 89s have the most detailed differences. Components (Suntour GPX), parts (winsta bar and stem), color schemes (solid black or red), geometry (steeper angles) frame changes ( lack of flutes on the chain stay).
I will make a note that the 89 Master Red may be a different color. I think always these color mixtures we have are only suggested. as MFG's colors vary and the state of fade is different of the paint on the frame.
On the site i have 1978,1979,1984,1985,1986 and 1987 catalogs. although i would like to get a higher resolution scan of the 1987 catalog. 1988 and 1989 seems to elude us. (I would love to get more catalog scans! esp 1988-89)
as for the 1985 and 1986 Silvers. They have different names in the catalogs the 1985 is Titanium Silver, and the 1986 is Anthracite/Silver. from the catalogue to my 1985 it looks like the 85 silver is darker. but that may be just the print/Monitor differences.
