Thanks, yes, this helps a lot. I've been shopping used bikes and I was not understanding how mid-90s Trek 800s were "26 inch" but so was the mid-70s 10-speed I rode as a teenager. Thanks for answering.

(I don't actually have a Trek 800, I was just considering them. Instead I got a used 1992 Trek 720, new-to-me as of a couple weeks ago. )
