Yeah, typically, phones use an 'enhanced' GPS because their non-enhanced GPS is crap. The 'enhanced' bit is some cell tower triangulation to supplement their satellite tracking. It still isn't as good as a Garmin (or the like) in the best of situations, but with hilly terrain, which can affect cell reception quite a bit, it's even more of a crapshoot.
