I don't actually know what size my pix are for other people. I use a graphic editing program (corel photo paint) to rescale from whatever my phone takes down to 2500 pixels wide. While BF states 100kb is the limit, my files are usually ~300kb, at 2500 pixels, vs 3-4mb as they come out of the phone, but BF clearly downscales them somehow (from my end they seem to go down to the neighborhood of 1280 pixels wide, which used to be huge, but doesn't look so big to me these days).
