The two bikes should handle fairly differently for sure.
The top tube looks from here the paint problem... Might at some point be possible to just address that.
I would have done it. Definitely.
Only things I would do now would be more classic looking tires ( I see the mismatch of the rims and will let that slide) and route the shift cables to the forward side of the bars, aesthetics and acceptable feel, my first road bike had Campagnolo bar end controls with the cables routed to the forward side, so I am just used to that.

I rode my Cinelli to work today. Next week something else... Maybe a Colnago.
