Cheap, plastic bodied, pedals tend to be a short term choice for most. They come on bikes because very few buyers pay too much attention to the pedals when the bike is bought. An upgrade to a completely metal pedal is a very common step when the OEM ones begin to show their low cost.
Until then I suggest just dripping medium thick oil down into them. Place the bike on one side on ground. Place oil nozzle on the pedal axle between the body and the crank arm on the pedal resting on the ground. Drip a few drops onto the pedal axle, the oil will droop down the axle and onto the plastic body. The goal is to have all the oil get sucked down into the body and through to the other end. Sometimes there's a dust cap that will weep a tad of oil to insure complete flow through. This will take a bit of time and a few reapplications of a drop or two at a time, too much at once only flows over the body's outside. Andy.
