Trek sold some Carbon Composite frames in the early 90s with three main tubes of carbon and the rear stays were aluminum. Talking with a friend, he said the tubes were actually carbon wrapped aluminum and not only carbon. I looked in the catalogs and they just say "carbon composite". Anyone have the skinny? I'm specifically interested in the MTB frames though I imagine the road and MTB frames are the same kind of construction
