People in Peoria must be easy to intimidate. I'd advise not flipping drivers off in or near Baltimore.
My "I'm ridin' over heah!" technique for waking up drivers approaching from the rear is swiveling my head a few degrees counterclockwise. I do it maybe once or twice. I don't move my head so much that I have to take my eyes off the road---just enough to trigger the "What was that?" reflex in the driver.
